How to play Wordle
Type a five-letter word
Every guess must be a real five-letter word. Use the on-screen keyboard or type on a physical one, then press Enter to submit. Hit the Backspace key or the X button to fix a letter before you submit.
Read the color clues
After each guess the tiles flip and change color. Green means the letter is in the word and in the right spot, yellow means it is in the word but in the wrong spot, and gray means it is not in the word at all.
Guess the word in six tries
You have six guesses to find the hidden word. Use what the colors tell you: rule out gray letters, move yellow ones, and keep green ones where they are. Solve it and share your result with friends.
Wordle tips to win more often
Start with a vowel-rich word
Words like ABOUT, RAISE, or AUDIO cover several vowels and common letters in one guess. A strong opening word tells you quickly which vowels the answer contains, so your second guess can already test likely consonants such as S, T, R, N, or L.
Use gray letters to rule words out
Every gray tile eliminates that letter for the rest of the round. Scan your keyboard — it fades letters you have already guessed — and mentally drop every word that contains a ruled-out letter. This narrows the list faster than hunting for greens alone.
Reuse green letters in place
A green tile is locked: the answer has that letter in that exact spot. Build your next guesses around it. If you have two greens, try words that keep both in position while testing new letters elsewhere.
Watch for repeated letters
The answer can contain the same letter twice, like the L in HELLO. If a guess shows one yellow E and you feel stuck, consider whether the word might repeat a letter you already found.
