Ezgif

Ezgif is a free online GIF maker and toolset for basic animated image editing. It lets you create, edit, and convert GIF, APNG, WebP, MNG, JXL, and AVIF animations directly in the browser, covering tasks that would otherwise require dedicated desktop software.

Key Features

• Animation creation and conversion: Build animations with the GIF Maker, WebP Maker, APNG Maker, AVIF Maker, JXL Maker, and MNG Maker, and convert between formats including GIF, APNG, WebP, AVIF, JXL, and MNG.
• Video to animated image converters: Turn video into GIF, WebP, APNG, AVIF, or JXL, with resolution settings up to 1280px and scaling by width or height. Transparent videos with alpha channels are supported.
• Editing tools: Resize, optimize, crop, rotate, and add text or captions to animations, including support for loading custom .ttf or .otf fonts.
• GIF optimization and compression: Use the Optimizer, a GIF Target Size Compressor for fitting file size limits, and a client-side Bulk GIF Optimizer for compressing multiple files at once with ZIP downloads.
• Screen recorder and video mixer: Record your screen, window, or browser tab at up to 4K/30fps, and combine video, GIF, and audio tracks on a multi-track timeline with trimming, transitions, and export presets.
• Specialized converters: Convert Lottie files, Aseprite files, and Windows Animated Cursors (.ani), plus tools such as GIF to MP4, GIF to WebM, GIF to MOV, and GIF to WhatsApp.

Typical Use Cases

• Creating GIFs from video clips: Upload a video, set the resolution and scaling, and export an animated GIF or WebP for sharing or embedding.
• Preparing animations for size-limited platforms: Use the GIF Target Size Compressor to fit limits such as 256 KB, 128 KB, or 10 MB for Discord, Slack, email, or web uploads.
• Batch format conversion: Upload multiple files to converters such as WebP to JPG or PNG to JPG and process them in batch mode in the browser.
• Recording and editing screen captures: Record a screen or browser tab, then edit and convert the recording to GIF, WebP, APNG, or MP4.

How It Works

1. Choose a tool from the site, such as the GIF Maker, Video to GIF, or a format converter.
2. Upload your images, video, or animation files.
3. Adjust settings such as resolution, frame timing, cropping, or compression.
4. Process the files and download the resulting animation or converted file.

Some tools offer a local processing option that handles files directly in the browser without uploading them to Ezgif's servers, and many converters support batch mode by default.

Ezgif suits anyone who needs to produce or convert animated images without installing software: content creators making GIFs from video, social media users preparing files for size-limited platforms, and developers or designers converting between animation formats such as Lottie, Aseprite, and .ani.
